Fat under the skin
It is a layer of fat located directly under the skin. It is most often found on the abdomen, thighs, buttocks, and upper arms. It can be seen with the naked eye and felt by touch.
It is not as dangerous as visceral fat. However, if it accumulates in large amounts, it can lead to excess weight and obesity, as well as affecting bones, joints, body shape, and self-confidence.
People who eat a lot of calories, live a sedentary lifestyle, sit at work for long periods of time, or women who have given birth are more likely to accumulate fat under the skin. In general, women accumulate fat under the skin to a greater extent than men.
